Erasmus students cleaned Çomar Dam
Students and teachers from Mehmetçik Anatolian High School participated in a cleaning operation at Çomar Dam on May 17th, International Recycling Day, in collaboration with municipal teams. As part of the Erasmus Program, the aim was to educate conscientious individuals of tomorrow and cultivate environmentally conscious and responsible citizens, which is one of the project’s objectives. The students and teachers collected the waste at Çomar Dam in collaboration with the Çorum Municipality Cleaning Services Directorate. Later, these waste materials were separated into 13 different categories of household waste (paper, cardboard, plastic, metal, glass, wood, textiles, electronic materials, lead-acid batteries, fluorescent and mercury-containing waste, accumulators, pharmaceutical waste, vegetable oils, and worn-out tires) to be taken to the „First-Class Waste Collection Center“ for recycling. Each waste category was placed in different trash containers. This activity aimed to create awareness among students about preventing environmental pollution within the framework of zero waste efforts and the importance of recycling recoverable materials for the economy.
